College Application Training Offers Free College Financial Counseling Class For Parents And Students

The class entitled "Learn How to Take Advantage of the College Financial Aid System….Don’t Let the System Take Advantage of You!" will provide an introduction to the complicated process of federal student financial aid.


Los Angeles – College Application Training announced today that they will be offering a college financial counseling class for parents and students on Thursday, June 28th in Los Angeles, CA, according to Founder, Chelsea Hackett.


“We are very excited about offering this class for parents and students as they begin thinking about how to pay for college,” said Chelsea. “The class is a great way for parents to get an introduction to the basics of college financial aid while they still have time to make family adjustments to maximize their financial aid awards.”

The class entitled “Learn How to Take Advantage of the College Financial Aid System….Don’t Let the System Take Advantage of You!” will provide an introduction to the complicated process of federal student financial aid. By the end of the 2 hour class, both parents and students will increase their knowledge of the financial aid process, learn the rules of the financial aid system, know how to apply the rules to their specific family situation, be able to receive the highest financial aid award, save money, reduce their out-of-pocket costs, increase their confidence, and lower stress in the family.


The class is part of a 4-section course entitled “Master Your College Application - Get Into Your #1 College Choice!” that provides a complete college application preparation overview. By the end of the 4-part course, both parents and students will know how to get into college by raising their SAT/ACT Test scores, how to create winning college applications, how to succeed in college, and even how to pay for college!

The course is taught by Andy Watkins, J.D., Business Director of College Application Training, who has over 15 years experience as a corporate attorney and financial consultant. A graduate of South Pasadena High School, he received his B.A. in Japanese Studies from Bucknell University, where he spent a year studying at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California and began his career with the law firm of Graham & James, LLP in Los Angeles focusing on servicing clients from the Pacific Rim on a wide-range of international business matters. Now, he works with families to financially prepare them for college and optimize the amount of financial aid parents and students are eligible to receive.


College Application Training was founded by Chelsea Hackett, who has over 20 years experience with the college application process. A Dean’s Scholar at the University of Southern California (USC), she graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in International Relations and French. She was awarded the Mary Pickford, Frank Sinatra, USC Associates, and Women in Film scholarships by the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Chelsea combined her academic education and professional experience to create the College Application Training proprietary curriculum. By combining organizational skills learned from juggling multiple scripts and productions with college test prep and writing coaching, she has created a specialized program to train students to create winning college applications with maximum individuality and minimum stress.
