Army and Navy Academy named Jeff Hengesbach Head of Army Navy's Upper School

Jeff Hengesbach, Dean of Academics at West Nottingham Academy in Colora Maryland has been named Upper School Head at Carlsbad’s Army and Navy Academy, succeeding Denis Anderson, who will be retiring at the end of the current school year.


June 30, 2010 - ( Kjprnews ) Jeff Hengesbach, Dean of Academics (www.armyandnavyacademy.org) at West Nottingham Academy in Colora Maryland has been named Upper School Head at Carlsbad’s Army and Navy Academy (www.armyandnavyacademy.org), succeeding Denis Anderson, who will be retiring at the end of the current school year.

 

Hengesbach is a graduate of Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education with Honors. He also earned a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership (www.armyandnavyacademy.org) with honors from Northern Arizona University.

 

Hengesbach began his career in education in 1993 as a Physics instructor and later as Physics Department Chair at Mountain Pointe High School in Tempe Arizona.

 

In 2002, Mr. Hengesbach joined the Webb Schools in Claremont, California as the Science Department Chair and a instructor of Physics. He also served as the director of their summer studies program and as well as a member of the school’s Academic Council.

 

In the fall of 2008, Mr. Hengesbach became Academic Dean of West Nottingham Academy, the oldest boarding school in the United States. He also served as Science Department Chair. Concurrently, Mr. Hengesbach has served as a member of the Adjunct faculty at Arizona State University from 1995 to 2005 and as an Associate Professor at Rio Salado Community College from 1996 through 2002.

 

Mr. Hengesbach also has been involved in coaching interscholastic sports, serving as Cross Country Coach and Track Coach at all three schools. His teams won multiple championships and awards. He has also been actively involved in a number of educational organizations, has made presentations to national educational conferences and has won numerous awards for academic and teaching excellence.

 

Prior to attending Arizona State University, Mr. Hengesbach served four years on active duty in the United States Air Force.

 

Mr. Hengesbach is married and he and his wife Bonnie are the parents of two sons and one daughter. “Jeff Hengesbach is an outstanding educator and leader of young men,” said Academy President BG Steve Bliss. “We are fortunate to have him join the Army Navy team.”
