Experiencing Furniture Design in Italy

Posted on March 14, 2011 at 11:09 AM

The Florence Institute of Design International offers course of Italian Furniture for summer 2011.

Florence, Italy - March 15, 2010 -- Staying true to its advocacy of inspiring innovation, the Florence Institute of Design International again gives aspiring designers a reason to visit and learn in Italy with its third-year provision of Italian Furniture Design courses.

The institute, known for integrating both traditional and modern Florentine approaches in design, will reopen an intensive summer course on Furniture Design this June 1 to 30, 2011. Prepared and managed by experienced furniture designer and architect, Leonardo Rossano, students who indulge in this learning process will be treated to an in depth study of Italian furniture design – complete with case studies, design critiques, and showroom tours.

The Furniture Design course targets students with a strong interest in Italian furniture design, interior design as well as industrial design and welcomes novices who are yet to discover the rewarding experience. It features a mixture of design assignments encompassing common household fixtures, but with consideration of contemporary and classic design demands. It is open to young designers from all over the world and graciously welcomes those who have a rousing curiosity and strong affinity to Italian inventiveness.

Complete with workshops and the latest design software, the school promises to foster creativity in students. But beyond the institution itself, there is much to look forward to with the location this learning experience is set. See, Florence is not only known for its rich culture and lush environment. It also serves as home to plenty of famous art figures (past and present) as well as historical firsts. Through the years, it has blossomed into a crossroad for international design students, which comes as no surprise since Florence has continuously nurtured its relationship to creativity for centuries.

During the Renaissance period, Florence grew to power because of the brilliant minds and ingenuity of its citizens. Today, it is the school's intention to spread that progressive ideology to the rest of the world and spawn a new breed of designers who dare to innovate pervasive and unparalleled modern furnishings as past Florentine artists did.

In addition to graphic design, students of will also be treated to  a cultural immersion, with the integration of the Italian language in the curriculum. With this aspect of the program, the school hopes to give foreign students a better grasp of the Italian culture.

Aside from Furniture Design, the Florence Institute will also be hosting classes in Architecture and Graphic Design.
